In 2017, Pastor Mantsha answered a clear call from God to launch a ministry in Midrand. With humility, faith and vision, we began as the Church of Jesus Christ on a rented venue on Pearson, Midrand. Under her leadership, together with Pastor Hlohlo, a community began to gather, people hungry for God, purpose and transformation.
From these humble beginnings, the church embraced a warm family-feel atmosphere. Our rented space on Pearson Institute of Higher Education served as a launching pad for worship, discipleship and community engagement. As we grew in both spirit and vision, the leadership sensed God’s next word: ownership. A prophetic word spoken early – his church would not simply rent or borrow a building, but would own a property, so the leaders held that promise in faith, even when the numbers were still modest.
As the church matured, we transitioned into a new meeting space: a garage in Country View, on the grounds of the pastor’s sister’s school. This shift was more than just a venue change, it was a demonstration of stewardship, sacrifice, and trust in God’s provision. Though the space was modest, the vision was expansive. We kept the word of ownership alive even as we met in the garage.
Then, in 2020, when the world shifted because of COVID-19, the church did not pause its mission. We pivoted to online ministry hosting prayer, bible study, group connection, and outreach virtually. In the midst of uncertainty, we held fast to the foundational promise: the word of ownership, the word of harvest, the word of being ready for what’s next.
In 2022 the breakthrough came. Through an auction process, the church purchased a property at less than half of its market value, a clear sign of God’s favour and alignment with the prophetic word spoken years earlier. That property at 72 Pretorius Street, President Park, Midrand is now our new home.
For a period of over two years, we waited for the finalization of the property sale. In March 2025 we moved into the new property. The existing garage-structure was transformed into an auditorium, space not only to hold our gathering but to host growth, to reflect God’s glory, to serve the city, and to receive new converts.
Now in this season we recognize that the harvest is plentiful and the labourers few. With gratitude and expectation, we embrace a more outward-facing posture: to go beyond our walls, to engage our community, to be agents of transformation in Midrand and beyond, heeding the Great Commission (Matthew 28). To mark this new chapter, not just a change of building but a change of destiny, we are preparing for our relaunch in March 2026. This relaunch will signal readiness for new converts, readiness for the new season, readiness for change, and willingness to respond to God’s call in a broader way.
As we reflect back we celebrate: from a rental venue on Pearson, to a garage space in Country View, to owning our property; from a small gathering to enduring the pandemic to moving into a new home. We give glory to God for His faithfulness, for every step taken in obedience, for the leadership of Pastors Hlohlo and Mantsha, and for every volunteer, every service, every act of faith. Today’s story is one of trust, vision, perseverance, provision and hope.
And as we look forward to March 2026 and beyond, we step into this next chapter not simply as a church with new walls—but as a church with a renewed mission: to reach the lost, equip the found, serve our city, make disciples, and advance the Kingdom of God.
Our vision is to reach and disciple all people to become followers of Christ and to equip them to answer God’s call upon their lives.
